FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I make an appointment?
If you have any non-emergency questions, call us at 860-872-7854 any time during normal office hours (9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday).
To accommodate your needs, we can schedule appointments in the early morning or late afternoon.
If you are a new patient, we will need your complete medical history at the time of your visit. Please plan to provide any pertinent medical records and information including current medications.
If you are having a pap smear at your visit, we advise that you have no intercourse and do not use vaginal medication, douches, or tampons for 48 hours prior to the exam. This helps to ensure a good cervical cell sample and a more accurate test.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
Out of courtesy for our staff and patients, we request 24-hour notice of cancellations.
How do I handle emergencies?
We can schedule same-day appointments for emergencies. An ob/gyn physician is available 24/7. If you should become ill at any time of the day or night, or if you should require emergency medical advice, call 860-872-7854. A 24-hour answering service responds to calls when we are not in the office. This service contacts the covering physician.
Should you feel hospital care is necessary, please go to Rockville General Hospital's emergency department, where Dr. Williams is a member of the medical staff. Do not hesitate to call for an ambulance if needed.
How do I pay for services?
We participate with most major insurance carriers. Co-payments are expected at the time of service. The cost of x-rays, laboratory tests, or other services performed by outside agencies will be billed directly to you or to your insurance carrier if applicable.
For services not covered by insurance, your payment (cash, check or credit card) is expected at the time of service. If payment arrangements need to be made, we will be happy to assist you with these arrangements.
How do I refill a prescription?
Please call our office at 860-872-7854 a few days before running out of your medication. This enables us to call your pharmacy and have the prescription ready. We do not regard prescriptions lightly, and neither should you. There will be times when an office visit will be necessary in order to check on the condition for which the medication was prescribed.
How do I obtain test results?
If you are having testing done, we will notify you of test results per office policy, in accordance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
What if I'm moving and need my medical records?
We will be glad to release your medical records to any physician or facility. Because your records are held in strictest confidence (in accordance with professional ethics and privacy laws), we will require your written, signed request before releasing any information.
How do we invite someone to speak at our event?
Please call us at 860-872-7854. Explain what you have in mind and give us your contact information. We will check on our availability and get back to you as soon as possible.
